Well, Michael and I have been married for a month today.
Meaning that I have been on this journey for 3 weeks now. We decided to start this the week after the honeymoon.
Basically, Michael picks something out of a cookbook that he thinks he will like. And then I try to cook it.
So far we have had Nacho Taco Salad, Baked Spaghetti, and Frito Pie.
Week 1:
Nacho Taco Salad we kind of came up with. Michael decided he wanted something mexican. Then we went into the grocery store with a particular meal in mind. Came out with a completely different. It was really good. Made taco shell bowls. Added meat, lettace, cheese, salsa, Michael added refried beans and sour cream, and I added ranch dressing. So it was a good beginner! Something we both knew we would enjoy! And it made for good left overs.
Week 2:
Backed Spaghetti we got the recipe for from a family in our church. Neither of us had ever tried it before so we were most definitely looking forward to giving it a shot! You pretty much prepare it just like you would spaghetti. Just add it all in a pan and then bake it and then add cheese, put it back in a little longer. It was really good. Next time we will use sausage, which is what we usually use for our spaghetti. We prefer the taste of the sausage. Over all though, it was a plus. And yet again, this one also was a good left over;)
Week 3:
Frito Pie is one of my favorite things to eat! So when Michael said he wanted me to make this I was more than willing! It's such a easy thing to prepare and only takes 30 minutes to make. So over all, it probably takes at the most 40 minutes to make this meal. You put a layer of fritos on the bottom of the pan, add bean free chili, cheese (onions if you want), another layer of chili, another layer of cheese, and then another layer of fritos to top it off. It is extra good. And then to add an extra touch to it Michael added sour cream to his and I added ranch dressing to mine. Obviously we favor these two things. This meal however, is most definitely not a left over meal. The fritos get soggy. It's no good. We didn't think of that when putting it up for our lunch the next day. But now we now for next time;)
Well, it's week 4 now. Michael hasn't decided what I'm going to make this week yet. We usually make our meals Thursday. So once we do it I'll update;)
